VENTNOR - South Jersey Players will premier its Youth Playwriting Workshop for 11- to 15-year-old writers and actors 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays in November at the Ventnor City Cultural Arts Center, 6500 Atlantic Ave. Four workshop sessions Nov. 2, 9, 16 and 23. Those who enroll are expected to register for all four sessions.
The program will culminate in a “Festival of New Works” to be held Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 7-8 at Ventnor Coffee, 108 N. Dorset Ave. The festival will include student readings of their new plays acted by the youth group. Ten-minute plays by mentor playwrights, Sonda Mandel, who will help facilitate the workshop, and Edward Shakespeare, will also be presented. Other local playwrights who plan to mentor the young writers are SJP regulars Jim O’Hara and Tom Chin.
The ticketed event at Ventnor Coffee includes coffee and dessert and will require advanced reservations.
Workshop tuition is $180 per person.
