Stockton to screen HBO documentary about Tree of Life attack

  • Community

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP - An acclaimed HBO documentary about the deadliest antisemitic attack in American history will be screened for free at Stockton University on Oct. 15.

“A Tree of Life: The Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooting” will be shown at 6 p.m. in the Campus Center Theatre. Emmy-award winner Trish Adlesic directed the documentary, which details the shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue that killed 11 people as they prayed on Oct. 27, 2018. After the screening, there will be a virtual discussion with Audrey Glickman, a survivor of the attack.

Through raw interviews, archival footage and personal reflections, the film sheds light on the profound impact of hate-fueled violence and the enduring resilience of the human spirit. It serves as a stark reminder of the importance of unity, compassion and the fight against prejudice.

The film is executive produced by Pittsburgh natives Michael Keaton, Billy Porter and Mark Cuban and features the original song “A Tree of Life” by Idina Menzel.

Participants will discuss the importance of healing, remembrance and standing against antisemitism.

The screening is sponsored by Stockton’s Sara and Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center, HBO Films and Good Docs, and is free and open to the public.

RSVP is required by calling 609-652-4699 or emailing the center’s director Irvin Moreno-Rodriguez at [email protected].
