SOMERS POINT - Shore Medical Center has announced that Emmy Arroyo-Cruz, RN, a nurse on its 5 Hayes Unit, has been named its October Guardian Angel of the Month for providing passionate and exceptional patient care. Shore established the Guardian Angel program to enable community members to say 'thank you' to a special Shore caregiver through a donation to the medical center in their honor.
Arroyo-Cruz was hired at Shore Medical Center as a nurse aide on 5 Hayes in 2018. She worked full-time as a nurse aide and went to school full-time to obtain her nursing degree, which she received in 2021.
5 Hayes Nurse Manager Kelly Duma called Arroyo-Cruz a picture-perfect employee.
"From her role as a nurse aide to her current role as an RN on 5 Hayes, her work ethic has never faltered. She is professional, smart, committed and devoted to her patients, the organization, and teammates on 5 Hayes. Emmy is always kind and supportive of her patients and families. She consistently goes the extra mile for her patients and excels clinically. Watching Emmy grow into the professional nurse she is today has been one of the greatest pleasures of my career."
A patient recently made a Guardian Angel donation to the medical center in Arroyo-Cruz's honor.
"I received exceptional care from Emmy during my four-day stay. She made me feel secure and kept me calm every step of the way. Emmy was such a loving and caring soul not only to me but also my husband and roommate. I think Emmy is a true angel on earth," the donor said.
Outside of work, Arroyo-Cruz, who resides in Pleasantville, is actively involved in the community and her church, and is dedicated to her family and husband.
Shore Medical Center's Guardian Angel program provides an opportunity for patients and families for patients and families to recognize anyone at Shore who makes a difference in their care or experience. Guardian Angels are recognized among their peers and presented with a Guardian Angel pin at Shore's annual pinning ceremony.
