Ventnor to hold dedication of Osprey Place on Thursday

  • Ventnor

VENTNOR – The city will hold a dedication ceremony 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24 to rename a formerly unnamed paper street as Osprey Place.

The street is located off Wellington Avenue between Ventnor Plaza shopping center and the Dollar General store.

The street will serve as an access point for the plaza where a new traffic light has been installed. It will provide access to the strip mall and three new businesses that have opened on the northern side of the plaza - Starbucks, Greens and Grains and Burger King.

Ventnor Plaza shopping center has been designated an area in need of redevelopment.

Developer Mark Greco has spent millions of dollars to improve the shopping center experience including raising the parking lot several feet to prevent flooding during major storm events and high tides. His project invigorated the plaza with the addition of several new businesses in the main part of the plaza.

The new name honors the raptor, which is often seen perching on osprey nests erected in the bay across Wellington Avenue. The osprey is also Stockton University’s mascot.

The public is invited to attend.
