Eagles legend Jason Kelce told a great story about former Flyers captain Claude Girioux on the latest episode of his "New Heights" podcast.
Travis and Jason Kelce answered a fan question about what NHL players could have played in the NFL. After naming a few hockey legends, Travis asked Jason how he thought Claude Giroux would fare in the NFL. Jason's answer was interesting.
Jason: I mean, he's feisty.
Travis: That's what I'm saying. Maybe DB?
Jason: DB's tough. Maybe safety, maybe safety. He used to come in and ask to arm wrestle anybody. So mentality wise, yes. Physically, eh gonna have to see that.
I think Wayne Gretzky could’ve played any sport tbh @Mintmobile pic.twitter.com/wgVHOfYQRe
Would Giroux — who is 5-foot-11, 188 pounds — have fared well against an NFL player in an arm wrestling match? Probably not.
But you know how they say if you go to prison, you should find the biggest guy on your first day and go up and attack him and then no one will mess with you ever again? Well, maybe this is like that. If Giroux asks to arm wrestle someone significantly bigger than him, it makes you wonder if he has a trick up his sleeve.
Of course, there's no reason to think anyone on the Eagles had intended to question Giroux's arm wrestling abilities. But now they never will.
