Eagles Played Turnover-Free Football in October

  • Eagles

In September, Jalen Hurts threw four interceptions and Dallas Goedert lost a fumble. As the month ended, Hurts had turned the ball over at least once in nine consecutive games.

But Hurts and the Eagles offense flipped the script in their last three games, playing turnover-free football in victories over the Giants, Browns, and Bengals.

Head coach Nick Sirianni has preached the importance of not turning the ball over since week one.

"We can't be in the negative of the turnover [ratio]," Sirianni said after a season-opening 34-29 win over the Packers. "We're the only team in the NFL [in week one] that lost the turnover battle and won the game. 10-1 or 1-10. However you want to look at it. We're the only team that won.

"That's not sustainable, right? That's not sustainable. So protecting the football and taking the football away [are paramount]."

Hurts and the offense seem to have taken Sirianni's words to heart.

On defense, meanwhile, the Birds are forcing some turnovers of their own. Here's Isaiah Rodgers and C.J. Gardner-Johnson teaming up for a beautiful interception in Sunday's game:

And here's Zack Baun forcing a fumble near the end of the fourth quarter:

Don't turn the ball over on offense. Create turnovers on defense. Win football games.

Seems simple enough.

The Eagles will try to keep the party going this Sunday at home vs. Jacksonville.
