VENTNOR – The official end of summer may have passed on Labor Day, but there’s lots more fun to be had in Ventnor with the fourth annual Downbeach Seafood Festival being held Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 14-15 at Ski Beach.
After being held at Gardeners Basin and Bader Field for several years, the festival, produced by Good Team Tricycle, made its way further south in 2019 and set up shop during the first month of the shoulder season at the spacious bayfront park at the end of Dorset Avenue, where the park is turned into a seafood lover’s paradise.
This year’s event, sponsored by South Jersey Gas, will feature 25 local and regional seafood restaurants and purveyors serving their tasty creations, including clams, lobster, oysters, ahi tuna and more. The event also features craft beers, spirits tastings, unique exhibits, rockin’ music and fun in the sand for adults and children.

Because September is National Hunger Month, the Downbeach Seafood Festival will support the Community Food Bank of New Jersey through its ever popular Chowder Cook-Off. This year’s goal is to raise $5,000 for the FoodBank, which will use the money to distribute more than 15,000 meals to those who need them.
Activities include lots of fun things for children to do, a crab cake eating competition, cooking demonstrations and seminars. New this year is a tour of South Jersey oyster production, provided by Cape Harbor Shellfish. “The Oyster Tour of The Shore” offers a curated tasting of regional oysters, an opportunity to meet oyster farmers, and learn how to properly shuck oysters.
The 2024 Downbeach Seafood Festival's entry fee is $10 per person in advance online and $15 at the gate, with free admission for children 12 and younger. Free parking is available at the lot at 4800 Wellington Ave. with a complimentary shuttle service to and from the festival.
