Approximately 1,500 runners from around the country will take the scenic route in the Atlantic City Marathon Race Series  AmeriHealth April Fools Half Marathon that steps off at 8 a.m. Sunday, April 6 at Resorts Casino Hotel on the World Famous Atlantic City Boardwalk.

Many of the runners will wear costumes during the event and more than 300 volunteers will assist with the race, which draws thousands of spectators.

Race day will feature live music along the route to keep participants and spectators energized. The fun doesn’t stop at the finish line in front of Resorts. Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville and LandShark Bar & Grill will host the official afterparty and awards ceremony, where top male and female finishers will receive monetary prizes.  Additional age group awards will be presented to race competitors.

Costumes are highly encouraged, with a special contest recognizing the most creative and outrageous outfits. Race sponsor Tito’s Handmade Vodka will donate $1 to charity for every specialty drink - Jalapeño Business - purchased at the after-party.

Bicycles are prohibited on the Boardwalk during the event, and parking restrictions will be in effect in the Downbeach towns of Ventnor, Margate and Longport.

Motorists are advised to be cautious driving during the event.
