MARGATE – Jewish Family Service’s Village at the Shore and the Board of Jewish Education are hosting a three-part lecture series “Echoes of an Empire: Unraveling the Dynamic History of Russia and Ukraine.” starting May 1 at the Marjorie & Lewis Katz JCC, 501 N. Jerome Ave.
Professor Jack L Pesda, Ph.D. will facilitate discussions 10:30 a.m. to noon Thursdays, May 1, 8, and 15. Each week will focus on a different period of Russian and Ukrainian history, culminating with the present day.
Pesda has a doctorate in Russian history from Kent State University, specializing in Russian economic history. He has taught at Miami University of Ohio, Penn State University and Camden County College, where he served as the director of the Center for Cultural Engagement.
Individuals are encouraged to attend all three programs or a single class.
The program is free and open to the entire community. Coffee, tea and breakfast pastries will be provided.
