LONGPORT – Mayor Patrick Armstrong and Commissioners Dan Lawler and Jim Ulmer April 16 honored longtime Department of Public Works employee Christopher Berenotto, who that day served his last day as a borough employee.
Berenotto, who worked in the borough for 36 years, started his employment in Longport in June 1989 and rose to the position of department supervisor in 2018.
Under his leadership, the beaches were kept pristine, including following the numerous nor’easters and snowstorms that pound the coast, and ensuring roads were passable and safe for residents, travelers and visitors, Armstrong said.
The Board of Commissioners expressed deep appreciation for his 36 years of service to the residents of Longport by proclaiming April 16 as Chris Berenotto Day in Longport.
“I met and made a lot of good friends along the way, and I accomplished many goals, dreams and projects that hopefully helped Longport through the years,” Berenotto said thanking his family, friends and “my guys in the Public Works Department.”
“Although a bit of a sad evening for me tonight, I’m looking forward to next chapter of my life,” he said. “I will miss you and hope to see you in the future.”
