VENTNOR – It’s time to clean out the closets, lighten the load in the attic and do some good for the environment.
Ventnor Special Events will hold its annual spring cleaning event 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 26 in a new location this year. The event will be held at Ski Beach, Dorset Avenue at the bay.
Residents can take advantage of the free service that can protect your personal identity by safely disposing of important paper documents in the shredding machine. No binders, clips or plastic bags.
In addition to shredding unwanted paper documents to prevent identity theft, residents can recycle their no longer needed textiles.
Textiles are the fastest growing being placed into the waste stream and efforts are being made to keep textiles out of landfills. Statistics show that 85% of clothing winds up in the trash.
Used clothing, footwear, accessories, linens, stuffed animals, and luggage will be accepted for recycling. Textiles in any condition, including those with stains, missing buttons and broken zippers are acceptable. However, they must be dry and odorless. All donations collected at the event will be repurposed and recycled.
