Elderly Margate driver strikes two in Sam's parking lot

  • Atlantic County

Two pedestrians suffered minor injuries when they were struck in the parking lot of Sam's Club on Sunday.

Linda Neely, 82, of Margate, lost control of her vehicle while backing out of a parking spot, Pleasantville Police Chief Stacey Schlachter told BreakingAC.

Diane Jackson, 70, of Absecon, and Anthony Samuel, of Pleasantville, had minor injuries, Schlachter said.

The driver was not injured.

Dashcam video Steve Freeman provided to BreakingAC from a car parked nearby shows Neely backing out of the spot and then continuing through the lot.

The parked car was also struck. The driver — who was still inside — can be heard reacting.

One man is seen being hit and falling to the ground before getting up. Another person appears to be getting helped by a bystander.

(NOTE: Police originally released the driver's age as 100, due to transposed year of birth. She is 82.)
