A former Hamilton Township outreach supervisor is accused of sexually assaulting when he drove her home from a school event.
Darnell Williams, 34, was arrested Thursday at his home in Whiting, Ocean County, after a months-long investigation into the allegations.
The alleged incident happened in February, according to the affidavit of probable cause obtained by BreakingAC.
Williams drove the 7-year-old girl to a function at the William Davies Middle School on Feb. 21, then took her out to eat at McDonald's before driving back to the hotel where she was living with her parents, the affidavit states.
But instead of taking the girl straight to the door, security footage shows Williams drive to the part of the parking lot opposite the family's room, where he turned off all the vehicle lights, according to the report.
They parked there for approximately four minutes before Williams started the car and drove the girl to her door, according to the video.
The girl's mother told police that when she asked Williams about the time he was parked there, "he began acting weird and stuttering," the affidavit states.
The girl told investigators that Williams reached under her sweater and squeezed her chest, and that he kissed her on the cheek and mouth, according to the affidavit. She said she was on his lap in the vehicle at the time.
Williams has not been back to work since the allegations were made, BreakingAC was old.
He then was fired at the end of the school year.
"As a district, we are committed to the safety, security and well-being of every student and take any allegations of employee misconduct seriously," according to a statement from the district.
Williams is charged with second-degree counts of sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child and official misconduct.
Williams arrived at the Atlantic County Justice Facility on Wednesday afternoon, and will likely have his first appearance Friday.
Williams' profile on the social media platform X lists him as an "author, motivational speaker, mentor and PBS-All-Star Digital Innovator."
In a post on X from October, he wrote about a "Week of Respect! Board meetings! Keynote speaker at All-Pro Dad breakfast! Amazing staff & students!! I am forever grateful for this job!!"
Last August, he gave a Student Safety Data Presentation, according to the minutes from that meeting. His job title was listed as supervisor of special projects.
He previously worked in Stafford Township, according to a story about him on a teachers' blog.
