VENTNOR - Families turned out for the annual Ventnor City Holiday Tree LIghting held Friday evening in the courtyard at Ventnor City Hall. It was a "Hallmark" moment as dozens of families braved the cold and lined up for hot chocholate at Dee's food truck.
Mayor Tim Kriebel gave a special shoutout to the members of the city's Public Works Department who decorated the tree and installed lighting around City Hall and along city streets.
Recently re-elected Assemblyman Don Guardian was a special guest and participated in the countdown to light the tree.
Commissioner Lance Landgraf recalled that shortly after getting into public office the city planted the evergreen tree which replaced a leggy crepe myrtle tree.
"This city has come a long way since we've been in office," he said.
Commissioner Maria Mento reminded everyone to attend the Twilight Holiday Parade taking place Saturday along Ventnor Avenue. The parade features four marching bands and four Mummers bands, she said.
Once the tree was lit, good little boys and girls lined up to meet Santa Claus and whisper to him their secret wishes for something special under their Chirstmas tree this year.
