City to hold public meeting on new Public Works building

MARGATE - The public is invited to attend a special meeting being held 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10 to discuss the proposed replacement of three buildings at the city's Public Works yard at Benson and Monmouth avenues.The meeting will be held at Historic City Hall, 1 S. Washington Ave.

According to city representatives, the 12,700-square-foot, two-story steel and masonry building, will have nine bays on the ground level and offices, training rooms, male and female locker rooms and a break room on the second floor. The building will replace three buildings that have seen better days and are no longer offer adequate protection for millions of dollars worth of heavy equipment.

The building will be built to essential facilities specifications to offer the greatest protection during emergency and extreme weather events.

The proposed cost of the building is $11 million, which will be funded in two bond ordinances up for public hearings 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17.
