Absecon twins jailed for threats to 'shoot ICE on sight'

  • Crime-Courts

Two Absecon men are jailed for allegedly calling to "shoot ICE on sight" and for the hanging of a Department of Homeland Security official.

Twin brothers Emilio and Ricardo Roman-Flores, 26, were arrested on charges including unlawful possession of an assault weapon and conspiracy to make terroristic threats.

An assault rifle along with three high-capacity rifle magazines were seized during the warranted search of the home on Spruce Street.

Both men are American citizens.

The alleged threats came to light last week, through Special Agent Alex Huba, according to the affidavit of probable cause obtained by BreakingAC.

A news release from the Department of Homeland Security said the two were arrested Tuesday, but jail records show they have been in the Atlantic County Justice Facility since late Monday afternoon.

A post on the social media platform X — formerly known as Twitter — threatened the shooting of all Immigration and Customs Enforcement personnel and the hanging of Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.

Further investigation found 16 posts threatening law enforcement, federal officials and Jewish people.

The page was created by Ricardo Antonio Roman-Flores, who was in Virginia at the time, the affidavit states. It was then discovered that Emilio Roman-Flores was given full access to his brother's page, and was the one who authored the posts.

Emilio told investigators his brother created the email for the "non-attributional account to make threats from so no one would know it was him," the affidavit reads.

"He made the threats to push back and intimidate those whose beliefs (he) disagreed with," according to the report.

Seven cell phones, two PC towers, an iPad and a laptop were seized during the search, the affidavit states.

Emilio Roman-Flores faces 11 counts, including criminal criminal coercion, threats and cyber harassment.

Ricardo Antonio Roman-Flores has two separate filings. One is just the conspiracy charge, but a separate case lists bias intimidation and unlawful possession of an assault fire arm.

“Let this be a warning to anyone who dares threaten or attack our brave law enforcement officers,” Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons said. “We will find you, we will arrest you, and we will prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law. We are not afraid of you. The extreme rhetoric of the news media, sanctuary politicians and activists is leading directly to our law enforcement officers facing an 8,000 percent increase in death threats against them. If you threaten our law enforcement or DHS officials, we will hunt you down and you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
