One person was killed and another critically injured after two helicopters crashed in midair over Hammonton late Sunday morning.
Hammonton police were called to the 100 block of Basin Road at about 11:25 a.m., after the helicopters crash-landed, according to the report.
One of the aircraft was engulfed in flames.
Several videos posted online showed some of the incident.
Police, fire and EMS responded to extinguish the fire.
There was no information immediately released on the person who was killed. A second unidentified person had life-threatening injuries.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board were notified and will be investigating the crash.
The Hammonton Police Department is asking residents and motorists to avoid Basin Road while the investigation continues.
