EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP - Police have identified the driver who allegedly fled a fatal hit-and-run Tuesday night on the Black Horse Pike.
Gino Garofalo, 32, of Ventnor, was traveling westbound in the West Atlantic City section of Egg Harbor Township, when his vehicle struck a pedestrian who was crossing the Black Horse Pike near the Economy Inn, according to police.
Alisah Cottman, 40, of Atlantic City, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Garofalo, who was driving a 2018 Jeep Wrangler, did not stop. Police thanked Philadelphia police for assisting in locating the vehicle.
Charges and citations are pending an ongoing investigation by Sgt. Ed Stearns, and Officers Robert Moran, Thomas Rizzotte and Joseph Ricevuto.
Egg Harbor Township police were called to the area about 8 p.m. Traffic was detoured for about five hours.
