Project Prom promises to make prom night special for all teens

  • Community

Project Prom is gearing up for its annual pop-up shop event March 8-10 at Kensington Furniture, 200 Tilton Rd., Northfield.

It is the 10th year the non-profit is partnering with the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City to provide young women in Atlantic County with the tools they need to shine inside and out. Project Prom has touched the lives of countless young women since 2014, ensuring that financial challenges never dim the magic of prom night.

Project Prom and ACBGC are calling for donations of gently used prom dresses, especially larger sizes, and accessories to help make prom night unforgettable for every teen regardless of their financial circumstances.

Donations will be accepted through Feb. 24 at these drop-off locations:

Berkshire Hathaway, 9218 Ventnor Ave., Margate

Katz JCC, 501 N. Jerome Ave., Margate

    Esthetica, 1205 Tilton Rd., Northfield

Project Prom has been a source of confidence and empowerment for hundreds of girls over the last decade.

“It’s more than just a dress – it’s a chance to feel confident, radiant and ready to take on the world,” Co-founder Rene Kane said.

The success of Project Prom is a testament to the unwavering support of the community, volunteers and sponsors.

Kensington Furniture will transform space in its store into a glamorous boutique with 12 personalized fitting rooms. Volunteers from the Boys & Girls Club help orchestrate the event and will have a table set up with information about ACBGC and Boys & Girls Club of America programs and services. Rene Kane & Co. will provide promotional materials and SOJO 104.9 will provide entertainment and live music.
