Ventnor appoints professionals, volunteers to serve on committees

VENTNOR – The Board of Commissioners Jan. 9 held a reorganization meeting, making professional appointments for the year and appointing members to serve on various committees and boards.

Professional appointments include:

  • Solicitor – Blaney Donohue & Weinberg not to exceed $96,000
  • Labor Attorney – Blaney Donohue & Weinberg $40,000
  • Auditor – Ford Scott & Associates $64,000
  • Bond Counsel – Archer & Greiner $25,000
  • NJ Infrastructure Trust Bond Counsel – Joel Fleishman $15,000
  • Planning and Grant Assistance – James M. Rutala Associates LLC $60,000
  • Tax Court Appraiser – George R. Brown $5,000
  • Human Resources Consultant – Cynthia Cotton $12,000
  • Health Benefits Consultant – Professional Benefits Consultants Inc. $12,000
  • Disclosure Agent – NW Financial Group LLC $1,500
  • Financial Advisor – NW Financial Group $10,000
  • City Engineer – EStinson Engineering LLC $50,000


Volunteer appointments:

The board also set a temporary budget until the new 2025 Budget is approved.

The board awarded several public works contracts including awarding Deblasio and Associates a $198,000 contract for design and construction of Phase I of the Winchester Avenue sanitary sewer replacement project funded through NJ iBank. 

It also agreed to purchase lumber and fasteners from Lumberman Associates of Bristol, Pa., in the amount of $2,514,014 to replace a portion of the boardwalk. The funds are coming from a $7.1 million grant from Gov. Phil Murphy’s Boardwalk Preservation Fund to repair the Ventnor boardwalk.

The board also approved a $719,120 contract to Landberg Construction for the Ventnor Gardens Stormwater Rehabilitation project, and a $233,000 contract to Massett Building Co. for construction of a new band shell at the Newport Avenue beach park.

In other business, Commissioner Lance Landgraf said the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers would begin replenishment of the beach with new sand being placed on the section of beach from the Ventnor Fishing Pier to the Margate border. Work will begin Jan. 16 and take about 30 days to complete.
