LONGPORT – Five Longport Police officers traveled to Washington, D.C., Monday, to assist with security at President Donald J. Trump’s Inauguration.
Lt. Ray Burgan, Sgt. Shaune Slattery, and Officers Frank Lupperger, Dean Tibbitt and Jonathan Saggese were part of a federal Task Force dedicated to ensuring the peaceful transfer of power and public safety during the event.
Along with nearly 4,000 law enforcement officers from across the nation, the Longport officers were deputized to prepared them to provide security at one of the most critical moments in American democracy.
“It was an honor to be part of such a historic occasion,” Burgan said. “The experience of contributing to the peaceful transfer of power was both humbling and rewarding. It also provided a rare opportunity to connect with officers from across the country and strengthen those professional ties. Most importantly, it was an amazing experience to share with my Longport team. We worked together in such a positive, collaborative way, and that’s something we’ll carry forward.”
