VENTNOR - The Atlantic County Utilities Authority will hold an event 11 a.m. Thursday, July 10 to celebrate the completion of the $5.3 million revitalization of the Downbeach Pump Station, 598 N.Layfayette Ave.
The Downbeach Pump Station operates around the clock to transport nearly 3 million gallons of wastewater per day from Longport, Margate, Ventnor and Seaview Harbor to ACUA's wastewater treatment facility in Atlantic City.
The station, originally designed and constructed in the early 1970s, received a complete overhaul to its structural, electrical and operational components to improve efficiency and increase its resiliency during major flooding events.
Those who attend will get a closeup look at the Downbeach area’s wastewater infrastructure system.
