MAYS LANDING - In its transition to All-Electronic Tolling on the Atlantic City Expressway overhead gantry installations are scheduled for7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday, July 16-17 on both the eastbound and westbound lanes of the Atlantic City Expressway as part of the South Jersey Transportation Authority’s All-Electronic Tolling project.
📆 Installation & Closure Schedule:
🔹 Wednesday, July 16 – near Milepost 12, east and westbound lane slowdowns
🔹 Thursday, July 17 – near Milepost 10, east and westbound lane slowdowns
🔹 Plan for full closures in the westbound traveling direction near Milepost 12 from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Wednesday July 16
🔹 Additional slowdowns may be facilitated by the New Jersey State Police between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m.
🔁 A clearly marked detour for the westbound closure will be in place during this short timeframe
To date, five out of 10 tolling gantries have been successfully installed. The Wednesday evening gantry installation will be the first time in the AET project when the work will require a brief full roadway closure (Wednesday, July 16 only) to ensure the safety of both workers and motorists.

✔️ Our team is working with contractors and traffic safety officials to keep disruptions to an absolute minimum
✔️ Work is scheduled overnight to reduce impact during peak travel hours
✔️ All efforts are being made to keep the closure as brief as possible
This work is a key milestone in the authority’s move to a more efficient and contactless tolling system, which will improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and enhance safety on the Atlantic City Expressway.
