The Margate Business Association held its annual Wine and Spirits Tasting event Friday at Memories on Amherst Avenue.
Participants placed bids on items including golf packages, jewelry and other items all donated by area businesses.
The fundraiser, now in its 22nd year, is the highlight of the summer social season and has raised more than $135,000 for students since its inception. The event was started by Daniel and Maria Walters as a way for the business community to give back to the city's children.
Attendees enjoyed hors d'oeuvres provided by Memories and sweets provided by Jagielky's. Margate real estate professional Lou Solomon conducted the live auction.
The scholarship program provides funding for graduates of the Margate school district and supports the MBA's Children's Fund, providing warm clothing, school supplies, food, eyeglasses and any other essentials needed to ensure the students are successful during their educational careers.
