GoFundMe to help Galloway man brutally stabbed while working in Ventnor building

  • Community

A GoFundMe has been set up to help a Galloway Township man brutally attacked while he was working in a Ventnor apartment building.

The 59-year-old man was stabbed at least 10 times last Tuesday in an attack in a hallway at 11 S. Nashville Ave.

Johnny Flores, 35, who lives in Apartment 3B, is charged with attempted murder and weapons offenses. He is in police custody but has not yet made it to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

The victim’s name is not being released.

“He is a devoted family man and father of four, now facing an incredibly long road to recovery,” Andre Jordan wrote in a GoFundMe he set up for the victim. “Understandably, his family wishes to remain private at this time as they process the trauma of what he endured.”

The man had worked for Jordan’s renovation company on and off for about 2½ years.

“It’s just crazy,” Jordan told BreakingAC. “When it happened, I was on my way to Ventnor to him at that site.”

He described the victim as hardworking and in good shape.

No motive for the attack has been given

There were “never any problems,” Jordan said when asked if Flores had caused any issues before the attack.

The victim suffered at least two stab wounds to the jugular and several to the abdomen.

“Due to the severity of his injuries, he lost a significant amount of blood and had to be revived twice,” Jordan wrote in the GoFundMe. “He remains in critical condition and has now undergone four surgeries.”

The most recent was Monday, Jordan said.

The incident was similar to an alleged attack Flores made on two officers responding to a call to his mother's Vineland home in 2016.

Flores was charged with attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed Officer John Warrington in the face and head during a fight, according to the charges reported by Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae at the time.

Another officer also was attacked, but was treated and released. The attack led to Warrington's retirement, according to a civil suit he filed against Flores and his mother in 2021.

That was dismissed by a judge.

The criminal case also was dismissed at the municipal level, although it was unclear why.
