MAYS LANDING – Dalvin Chalmers, 39, of Atlantic City, faces a 3-year sentence for 3rd-degree criminal coercion. He pleaded guilty Friday, July 18 in front of Judge Joseph Levin, who will consider his sentence.
According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor, Chalmers approached a man who was parking his truck on Richmond and Winchester avenues Oct. 25, 2024, and threatened to assault him if he did not get out of his truck. The male called police with a description. Atlantic City Police officers were able to locate the suspect and the victim subsequently confirmed Chalmers was the man who approached him while parking his truck.
About two weeks later on Nov. 7, 2024, Chalmers approached the same man while he was parking his truck, and again threated to assault him, telling him, “You better not show up for court,” in reference to the prior incident.
Police ultimately arrested Chalmers. He was detained following a hearing held Nov. 26, 2024.
Chalmers faces a jail term of up to three years in state prison when he is sentenced on Oct. 24.
Judge Levin ordered him to remain in jail pending sentencing.
