GALLOWAY TOWNSHNIP - It was a paws-itively fun afternoon as local pups and their pet parents gathered at Garden State Beer Company for the Doggie Musical Sit, a playful competition and preview for the upcoming Bark in the Park fundraiser. Hosted by Laddie’s Legacy, the event gave attendees and the media a sneak peek at one of the most beloved contests of the annual dog-friendly celebration.
Taking top honors in the Musical Sit were:
• First Place: Dayna Troiano and her dog Rex, a Boston Terrier, of Somers Point
• Second Place: Ellen Porter and her dog Atta Boy, an English Setter, of Northfield
• Third Place: Maria Migliascio and her dog Vinnie, an Alaskan Malamute, of Marmora
The event also spotlighted the mission behind the fun. Future Vet scholarship winners assisted with the event, and past Bark in the Park attendees offered enthusiastic previews of what’s to come. Guests enjoyed pup cups, pizza, and beer in a festive, tail-wagging celebration.
The event supports Bark in the Park, which will return 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13 at the Atlantic County 4-H Fairgrounds on Route 50 in Mays Landing. Proceeds benefit Laddie’s Legacy, a nonprofit that provides financial assistance to families who cannot afford lifesaving veterinary care for their pets. Founded in memory of Laddie, a surrendered Maine Coon cat, the program has saved countless pets since 2022.
