An Egg Harbor Township man was killed in a work-related accident Friday morning along the eastbound side of the Atlantic City Expressway, authorities said.
Dominick Tarsitano, 31, was struck by an attenuator truck that was backing up to pick up cones from a shoulder closure, State Police said.
The incident happened near milepost 36.6 in Winslow Township, Camden County, and involved a subcontractor for the South Jersey Transportation Authority, the SJTA said Friday.
State Police responded at 7 a.m. to a report of an incident in a construction zone.
The unnamed driver of the truck did not know Tarsitano was behind the truck, and accidentally ran over him, State Police said.
Tarsitano died from his injuries.
The incident remains under investigation, Sgt. First Class Charles Marchan said Monday.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help in honoring Tarsitano.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration also is investigating, a spokesperson with the U.S. Department of Labor confirmed to BreakingAC.
