USRowing, Viking Rowing Club to hold Beach Sprint Camp

  • Sports

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – USRowing and the Viking Rowing Club of Ventnor will be hosting a Beach Sprint Identification Camp Aug. 16-17 at Seaview Beach Marina on Somers Point-Longport Boulevard. The high-performance event offers a unique opportunity for regional athletes to engage with one of rowing’s most exciting and fastest growing disciplines.

Located in Atlantic County just minutes from Longport, Margate, Ventnor and Atlantic City, the camp is designed to identify emerging talent for future international competition in coastal rowing.

The Beach Sprint ID Camp will provide advanced technical instruction, sprint-focused training and hands-on experience with head-to-head beach sprint racing. This dynamic format blends beach running, coastal navigation and explosive rowing, making it ideal for both experienced rowers and newcomers eager to explore coastal competition. Participants will receive athletic training, evaluation and enjoy high-intensity beach sprints emphasizing agility, speed and strategy.

The camp is part of USRowing’s national initiative to expand coastal rowing and prepare athletes for events, such as the World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals and potential participation in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

Athletes and coaches across southern New Jersey are encouraged to attend or help spread the word. With its regional accessibility and elite coaching environment, the camp is expected to attract strong local participation.
