VENTNOR - The public is invited to celebrate the $5.3 million revitalization of the Atlantic County Utilities Authority Downbeach Pump Station, 11 a.m. Thursday July 10.
The event will provide an up-close look at the $5.3 million revitalization project recently completed on the wastewater pump station that provides critical services to residents of Longport, Margate, Ventnor and a portion of Egg Harbor Township.
The Downbeach Pump Station operates 24/7 to transport nearly 3 million gallons of wastewater per day from Longport, Margate, Ventnor and Seaview Harbor to ACUA's treatment plant in Atlantic City.
Originally designed and constructed in the early 1970s, the pump station, located at 598 N. Lafayette Ave., received a complete overhaul to its structural, electrical and operational components to improve efficiency and increase its resiliency during major flooding events.
