Sephardic Foundation on Aging awards $60,000 grant to JFS

  • Community

MARGATE - Jewish Family Service of Atlantic & Cape May Counties will continue assisting aging adults, including Holocaust Survivors who reside in the region, with programs and services available through the agency’s Lynn Kramer Village by the Shore, thanks to a $60,000 grant from the Sephardic Foundation on Aging.

"The Lynn Kramer Village by the Shore is a prime example of communities caring for their older members, ensuring the ability to continue living at home with dignity and support. The Sephardic Foundation on Aging is proud to continue our partnership with JFS," said Joshua Hoffman, executive director of The Sephardic Foundation on Aging.

The grant will support two of the Village’s most vital services – care coordination and transportation.

Village care coordinators provide one-on-one support for older adults around end-of-life matters and serve as an advocate to address financial, healthcare, benefits and legal issues, should family be unable to provide assistance.

According to USAging, more than one-in-five Americans older than age 65 do not drive and the demand for transportation is steadily increasing as the boomer population continues to grow.

Village drivers offer reliable transportation to the supermarket, medical appointments, lunch with friends, shopping, community programs and more. With transportation being one of the Village’s most sought-after programs, JFS understands that socialization can positively affect a person’s quality of life.
