The American Cancer Society will pedal from the Ben Franklin Bridge in Philadelphia to Ski Beach in Ventnor June 1 to raise money to improve the lives of cancer patients and their families. The ACS 53rd annual Bike-a-thon is a single-day endurance event fueled with hope and powered by love.
Riders bike from 20-100 miles in memory of a loved one who has been affected by cancer, raising funds for cancer research, advocacy and patient services.
Last year, more than 1,700 cyclists collectively raised more than $2.8 million in the single day event, and since its inception, the Bike-a-thon has raised more than $33 million in support of the cancer society’s mission.
Riders can select the distance they want to ride, selecting from four locations and six route options. The Century Route is the longest route that starts in Philadelphia or Cherry Hill. Shorter rides are starting in Hammonton and Egg Harbor City. Riders can also do a virtual ride or select their own mile limits riding at their pace.
Volunteers help make the event a success each year. Volunteers can help along the route with water stations, information and more. Sponsorships are available.
