LONGPORT – The Beach Patrol will host tryouts for all prospective lifeguards 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 7 at Beach Patrol Headquarters on 33rd Avenue.
Applications are due at Borough Hall weekdays or Beach Patrol Headquarters on weekends starting Memorial Day weekend. Applications are due no later than June 2 and must include a signed physican’s statement and a waiver.
A mandatory meeting for applicants will be held at the Community Room at Beach Patrol Headquarters 5 p.m. June 6. Failure to attend will result in disqualification from tryouts.
The test includes:
• 1 Mile run in under 7 minutes, 30 seconds
• ¼ Mile box swim
• ¼ Mile row
• 200 Meter paddle
• Run, swim, run of 100 meters each
Anyone who does not finish the run under 7:30 will not be eligible to move onto the next component of the test. Applicants will be scored chronologically in each component of the test.
An alphabetical list of candidates who pass the tryout will be posted Monday, June 9. Candidates will be contacted the week of June 9 for the interview process. All candidates must submit to a drug test and those over 18 will be required to submit a background check and fingerprints before starting to work.
