Ventnor, Margate, Longport announce beach openings

Downbeach communities have announced beach openings for the summer season. Beach patrols in each community advise residents and visitors to swim only at beaches where lifeguards are present. Normal beach hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in all three towns.

Ventnor

The following beaches will be open for Memorial Day weekend and will continue to be guarded 7 days per week through summer.

    Suffolk Ave

    Dorset Ave

    New Haven Ave

    Layfette Ave

    Other beaches will be guarded depending on the weather and staffing at the discretion of the chief.

Surfing, sailing and kayaking beaches are as follows:

    Hobie cats and sails can be launched at Somerset Avenue. Seasonal registrations are required. Contact the City Clerk’s Office at Ventnor City Hall.

    Kayaks can be launched at Princeton Avenue 

    Surfing is permitted next to the Fishing Pier

Beaches will be opened and closed as follows:

    Argyle Avenue June 7-Sept.1

    Clermont Avenue, June 7-Sept. 7 

    Gladstone Avenue, June 14-Sept. 1

    Huntington Avenue, June 7-Sept. 7

    Jerome Avenue, June 7-Sept. 1

    Osborne Avenue, June 7-Sept. 7

    Thurlow Avenue, June 7-Sept. 1

    Vendome Avenue, June 28-Sept. 1

    Cedar Grove Avenue, June 21-Sept. 1

    Washington Avenue, June 7-Sept. 7

    Jefferson Avenue, June 7-Sept. 1

    Madison Avenue, June 21-Sept. 1

Beach tags are required, except for Thrilling Thursdays, July 3 through Aug. 28.

Please note that on the weekends of May 24 and 31, June 7 and Sept. 7, 13 beaches at Clermont, Huntington, Osborne and Washington avenues will be opened depending on the weather and staffing, at the discretion of the chief.

Surfing, sailing and kayaking beaches are:

    Barclay to Clarendon – surfing, kayaking and sailing

    Delavan to Essex – surfing and kayaking

    Iroquois to Plymouth – surfing, kayaking and sailing

    Kenyon to Nassau – surfing and kayaking

    Pembroke to Sumner – surfing, kayaking and sailing

Permits to park Hobie cats and kayaks on the beach are available at the Municipal Building.

Beaches will be guarded as follows:

    13th Avenue – June 14-Sept. 1

    16th Avenue – May 31-Sept. 14

    19th Avenue – June 7-Sept. 1

    21st Avenue – June 14-Sept. 1

    25th Avenue – June 21-Sept. 1

    26th Avenue – May 31-Sept. 14

    Pelham Avenue – June 14-Sept. 1

    30th Avenue – May 31-Sept. 14

    31st Avenue – June 7-Sept. 1

    33rd Avenue – May 31-Sept. 14

    34th Avenue – June 14-Sept. 1

    35th Avenue – June 7-Sept 1

On the weekends of May 24 and Sept. 20, beaches at 16th, 26th and 33rd avenues will be opened depending on the weather and staffing at the discretion of the chief.

Suring and surf riding is permitted at 12th, 22nd, 28th and 32nd avenues

Kayak launching sites are between 14th and 15th avenues, 22nd and 23rd avenues, 27th and 29th avenues, and 32 and 33 avenues.
