MARGATE - A family owned business serving the local community for more than 50 years, proudly unveiled a striking new mural at its Margate office, The Heist Insurance Agency Thursday unveiled expansive artwork created by local artist Jon Baker depicting a panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean. The mural spans the entire length of the office wall and celebrates the beauty and heritage of Absecon Island.
Baker’s mural captures a sweeping panoramic view looking north toward Atlantic City, incorporating beloved Jersey Shore icons such as Lucy the Elephant, Mr. Peanut, the Steel Pier Diving Horse, banner planes, fishing piers, leaping dolphins, ferris wheels and more. The design also includes a nod to Heist Insurance’s presence in Ocean City, weaving the agency’s legacy into the landscape of the shore.
“When Tom Heist reached out, I knew immediately what I wanted to create,” Baker said. “It’s a tribute to the view I cherished while working on the Margate beach patrol and to growing up in the shadow of Lucy.”
Through Baker’s artistic vision and Heist Insurance’s deep commitment to the local community, this mural ensures that the spirit of the Jersey Shore's past and present and continues to inspire future generations.
