SOMERS POINT - Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States, but early detection can significantly improve outcomes.
Shore Medical Center, a member of the Penn Cancer Network, is committed to detecting lung cancer early when it’s most treatable and is offering free lung cancer screening consultations 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 22 at Shore Cancer Center.
Penn Medicine pulmonologist Dr. James O’Connor will meet with participants to review their health and smoking history, explain the benefits of screening, and determine eligibility for a Low Dose CT scan, a proven method for finding lung cancer early. Those who qualify will be scheduled for their scan at Advanced Shore Imaging Associates in Northfield at a later date, at no cost to them.
Low-dose CT screenings are recommended for adults ages 50-80 who are current smokers or have quit within the past 15 years.
