MAYS LANDING - Atlantic City Electric has been named a 2025 Trailblazer Impact Honoree by the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce and the African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey. This recognition celebrates organizations that demonstrate leadership and a sustained commitment to DEI in both the workplace and the communities they serve.
"Championing diversity, equity, and inclusion is not just a value; it’s a business imperative," said Jaclyn Cantler, senior vice president of Government, Regulatory and External Affairs at Pepco Holdings, which includes Atlantic City Electric. "By embedding DEI into our operations, we have unlocked new perspectives, strengthened community partnerships, and driven innovation across our workforce. In STEM fields, we often see gaps in representation, pay and leadership opportunities, making it even more critical that we work together to close that divide.”
Atlantic City Electric’s DEI strategy is directly tied to its business performance and long-term growth. Through targeted investments in early education and workforce development, the company is cultivating a pipeline of diverse talent for the energy sector. This includes hands-on training initiatives like the ACE-Celerate STEM Summer Camp. First held in 2024, the camp is part of a three-year, $160,000 commitment to introduce students to STEM education and the utility industry. In 2023 and 2024, the company awarded $75,000 in scholarships to support more than 50 students at Atlantic Cape Community College, Salem Community College, and other local education-based institutions helping to expand access to post-secondary education and career pathways.
The team also purchased $150 million in goods and services from local, diverse suppliers in 2024 – adding to Atlantic City Electric’s 100-year history of empowering the Southern New Jersey economy. These investments not only support local businesses but also contribute to the company’s operational excellence. Over the past decade, customers across South Jersey have experienced a 41% decrease in outages, and in 2024, crews restored service within an average of 50 minutes systemwide.
To support employee inclusion and engagement, Exelon, Atlantic City Electric’s parent company, offers 10 Employee Resource Groups, with chapters across utilities that offer opportunities for connection and education, including the Organization of Latinos at Exelon, Pride, Exelon’s African American Resource Alliance, and Exelon Military Actively Connected among others.
