MARGATE - The Marjorie and Lewis Katz JCC will be hosting a Spin-a-thon 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9 to raise money to assist a spin instructor who was seriously injured in a head-on collision last month.
The donation-based Spin-a-thon is open to all. It benefits spin instructor Steve Bouchard of Egg Harbor City and his family who are dealing with devastating injuries sustained when a car crossed the centerline of Tilton Road near Atlantic City International Airport and struck his truck head-on. A passenger in the other vehicle, Shayniyah Reynolds of Atlantic City died from her injuries.
“It has been eye-opening to see how many lives he has touched over his years,” Bouchard’s daughter Amiee said in a Facebook post. “I’ve always known he’s an awesome guy, I mean he’s my dad, but to see the impact he has made on others is really special.”
In addition to teaching at Oakcrest and Absegami high schools for more than 34 years, he has also served as a member of the Egg Harbor City Board of Education for more than 20 years, many of them as president.
Spin classes will be held all day. Participants are being asked to ride, sweat and show love for the Bouchard family. All funds raised during the day of giving go to support the family.
