The Atlantic County Utilities Authority received the Environmental Award from the Southern New Jersey Development Council at the organization’s 65th annual awards luncheon Friday, Oct. 17. ACUA was one of five organizations honored at this year’s ceremony.
The award recognized the authority for its leadership in sustainability and environmental innovation, including its microplastic removal pilot project, the integration of a renewable battery energy storage system, and most recently, its renewable natural gas project with partners South Jersey Gas and OPAL Fuels.
During his acceptance remarks, ACUA President Matthew DeNafo noted the authority’s achievements have been made possible through its continued commitment to innovation and willingness to explore alternative solutions.
