Meadowview Veterans Day Program
On Tuesday, Nov. 11, Atlantic County will recognize 19 military veterans who currently reside at the county’s Meadowview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at its annual Veterans Day Program presented in coordination with the Atlantic County Veterans Advisory Board.
This year’s program will also include recognition of the 100th birthday of a World War II veteran and Meadowview resident.
“It is our honor and privilege to salute our veterans and express our continued appreciation for their sacrifice and service,” Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson said. “Our debt of gratitude can never fully be repaid.”
The program will begin at 2 p.m. If weather permits, it will be held in the outside courtyard behind the facility, located at 235 Dolphin Ave. in Northfield. Otherwise, it will be held in the main lobby.
The Atlantic County Veterans Museum will open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Veterans Day, Tuesday, Nov.11. It is located at 189 Route 50 South, Mays Landing, a quarter-mile south of the Atlantic County Park and the Richard E. Squires Veterans Cemetery. The museum’s regular hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
The museum features artifacts and personal histories of many Atlantic County veterans, highlighting wars and conflicts from the Revolutionary War through modern day with keepsakes and mementos of veterans and their family members.
Levinson recently announced the renaming of the museum to honor Robert L. Frolow, a lifelong county resident, Vietnam veteran and the director of the Atlantic County Office of Veterans Services. An official renaming event is tentatively scheduled to take place 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14.
Richard E. Squires Veterans Cemetery Flag Placement
Also, on Wednesday, Nov. 5, local Scouts will help parks staff place flags on each of the nearly 6,500 grave sites prior to Veterans Day. In the event of inclement weather, the flag placement will be held Thursday, Nov. 6.
Most county offices will be closed Tuesday, Nov. 11 in observance of the holiday.
