One of the three people injured in a head-on crash Thursday in Hamilton Township has died, officials confirmed to BreakingAC.
Shayniyah Reynolds, 30, of Atlantic City, was a passenger in a car that crossed the centerline on Tilton Road near the Atlantic City International Airport around noon.
She and the driver, 20-year-old Taniya Deal, were rushed to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus by ambulance.
The driver of the truck involved, 66-year-old Stephen Bouchard of Egg Harbor City, was taken by medivac.
There was an outpouring of love and bittersweet memories shared on Facebook in honor of Reynolds, known to many as Duke.
Friends also asked for continued prayers for Deal, who remains hospitalized.
Many also were sending messages of support to Bouchard, a retired teacher in the Greater Egg Harbor Township School District. He also is a member of the Egg Harbor City Board of Education, and a former board president.
Deal was traveling east on Tilton Road when she crossed the centerline into oncoming traffic, according to the preliminary investigation.
A witness told BreakingAC that she had crossed over a few times prior to the crash. She was going about 10 mph below the speed limit.
Deal's 2008 Mercedes C300 struck Bouchard's 2019 Toyota Tacoma head on, police said.
Bouchard was flown to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus.
"Everyone that has reached out sending prayers and love to my dad, Thank you!" his daughter, Aimee Bouchard, wrote on Facebook. "He has a very long recovery ahead of him but he is alive and I know he will appreciate everyone's concern."
Traffic was diverted for several hours while police investigated the incident.
An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
