MARGATE - Film lovers will flock to the Margate Public Library Sept. 26 through Oct. 4 to view and vote on their favorite films during the 28th annual Manhattan Short film festival. It is the fourth consecutive year that the library has hosted the event, which occurs over a one-week period around the world.
The short film festival features 10 finalists being screened simultaneously at 500 venues around the globe, including the Margate Library. Best Film and Best Actor awards will be determined by ballots cast by the audiences in each participating venue.
Trailers for the films, which explore a wide range of topics relevant to everyone, are available for viewing at https://www.manhattanshort.com/. The full runtime will be approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, including a brief intermission. The films will also be shown in a first-run theater and are eligible for the 2026 Oscars awards.
The Final Ten are: “Em & Selma Go Griffin Hunting” (USA), “Al Fresco” (Spain), “Chasing the Party” (USA), “Paradise Man” (USA), “We Have Sinned Before You” (Israel), “I Have My Reasons” (United Kingdom), “Ovary-Acting” (Norway), “Beyond Silence” (The Netherlands), “Zodiak” (Belgium), “Passarinho” (Mexico).
