Steve & Cookies annual Dog Show honors longtime MC Dan Gottlieb

  • Community

MARGATE - Steve & Cookies annual Dog Show is set to start at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28 in the parking lot behind the restaurant. This year’s event includes a name change that honors Dan N. Gottlieb, who served as MC of the dog show for many years.

Gottlieb, who died suddenly at age 69 on Aug. 7, had a love of animals and serving as Master of Ceremonies for the dog show was a highlight for him over the last 11 years.

“Dedicating the show to him is a lasting legacy and a reminder to all of us who knew and loved Dan and his sweet obsession with our canine partners. Even though this year will no doubt be a difficult one, I don’t think any of us can’t not smile to ourselves when we think about Dan’s love for the pups,” restaurateur Cookie Till posted on the restaurant’s Facebook page.

The show will feature Downbeach’s most attractive, well-behaved and best dressed canines, some of whom will delight the crowds with their entertaining pet tricks. Awards will be presented for Prettiest/Most Handsome Small and Large Dogs, Best Dressed Small and Large Dogs, Most Obedient Dog and Most Talented Dog.

Entry fee is $25. Register online in advance at SteveandCookies.com or onsite between 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the day of the event.

All proceeds benefit the Humane Society of Ocean City and NJ Aid for Animals.  Sponsored by Steve & Cookies and American Harvest Organic Vodka.
