ATLANTIC CITY — UNITE HERE Local 54, the largest hospitality workers’ union in New Jersey, has endorsed Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill in her campaign for governor of New Jersey. Local 54 represents more than 12,000 hospitality workers many of whom work in the hotel, gaming and food service industries.

“Mikie Sherrill has shown time and again that she stands with workers,” UNITE HERE Local 54 President Donna DeCaprio said in a release. “She understands the challenges faced by hospitality workers across New Jersey. From advocating for livable wages and safe working conditions to pushing for economic justice, she has stood with workers. Between skyrocketing utility costs, a Federal Government that seems hell bent on attacking working people and an affordability crisis, we know that New Jersey Workers are facing real challenges. We know that Mikie will confront all these challenges and place the needs of working people first.”
Local 54 is leading the movement to build real, family sustaining jobs in the hospitality industry, DiCaprio said.
"Local 54 members have played a pivotal role in past elections, record contract victories, and organizing workers across New Jersey. New Jersey needs a governor who doesn’t just talk about supporting workers — but shows up, listens, and gets things done,” DeCaprio added. “That’s Mikie Sherrill, and that’s why our members are all in.”
