ACUA gears up for 11th annual Recycled Art Contest

  • Community

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP - The Atlantic County Utilities Authority invites the community to get creative with waste for its 11th annual Recycled Art Contest.

The contest requires participants to create unique pieces of art from materials that would normally be discarded in their trash or recycling bins. Entries can be submitted to participating libraries between October 1 and 31.

“The Recycled Art Contest is a great opportunity for residents to rethink the waste they generate,” said ACUA President Matthew DeNafo. “There have been many inventive submissions over the years, from dresses made with newspaper to fish crafted from littered cigarette butts. We look forward to seeing this year’s creativity.”

The contest is open to all ages, and winners will be selected in the following categories: 8 and under, 9 to 13, 14 to 17 and 18 and up, and Group.

Winners will receive a cash prize and recognition at ACUA’s America Recycles Day 1-3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at the ACUA Recycling Center in Egg Harbor Township. All artwork entered in the contest will be featured during this family-friendly event.

Contest Requirements:

Artists must be residents of Atlantic County.

Artwork must have an entry form securely attached.

Entries must be submitted to a participating library between October 1-31. These include: the Atlantic County Library System branches in Absecon, Brigantine, Egg Harbor City, Egg Harbor Township, Galloway Township, Hammonton, Pleasantville, Somers Point and Ventnor; Stockton University's Richard E.
