Two people who could not swim were rescued from the water in Atlantic City on Monday.
The two were spotted near the beach at Tennessee Avenue at about 4:30 p.m., city spokesman Matt Duffy said.
Lt. Kyle Deroo and Lifeguard Mike Awad saw one of the bathers struggling, and went to assist, according to the report.
The first bather who was brought in conscious. The second bather was brought to shore in heavy currents.
The woman began bleeding from her mouth and nose after she was placed on the sand, and lost consciousness.
Deroo, Lt. Tom Flynn and Lifeguard Lou Parks performed CPR, Beach Patrol Chief Steve Downey told BreakingAC.
They were able to get a weak pulse.
At that point, the Atlantic City Fire Department arrived on scene and transported the patient to the hospital, Duffy said. She was reportedly in stable condition on Monday evening.
"We have limited beaches open and guarded through Sept. 30," Downey said. "With possible storms approaching next week, we strongly urge experienced ocean swimmers only enter the water."
