If Monday's come-from-behind victory over the San Francisco Giants was an early statement for the Phillies, Tuesday's 6-0 loss was one to forget.
Former AL Cy Young Award winner Robbie Ray limited the Phillies to just three hits across six-plus shutout innings, striking out seven and walking three.
Offensively, third baseman Matt Chapman (3-for-4, RBI), catcher Daniel Susac (3-for-4, two RBIs) and Luis Arráez (1-for-4, two RBIs) were the top offensive performers for the Giants.
Obviously, any time you get shut out, the offense left something to be desired. Tuesday evening, though, the Phillies were sloppy in other areas on top of not hitting, with four of the runs they allowed being unearned.
Cristopher Sánchez gave up four runs over five-plus innings of work, but only two of those were earned, with a Trea Turner error in the bottom of the fifth inning making things worse for the lefty. Last year's NL Cy Young Award runner-up wasn't sharp this evening, though, as he allowed 11 hits. It's the second outing in a row where Sánchez didn't quite seem to be himself.
Yikes, I really don't know how long of a leash you can give Otto Kemp in left field at this point. pic.twitter.com/qOr5cSZB6j
Otto Kemp looked uncomfortable in left field, while going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts at the plate. He's started the season just 1-for-11, which is too small of a sample size to make a sweeping judgement. When coupled with Kemp looking subpar defensively, though, some will have a wandering eye towards Bryan De La Cruz.
Also worth noting is that J.T. Realmuto departed the game in the top of the second inning, with Rafael Marchán pinch hitting for the three-time All-Star after he sustained a bruised right foot in the bottom of the first inning:
J.T. Realmuto took a foul tip to the foot and left the game shortly after.

The Phillies will look to regroup and earn a series win Wednesday afternoon at Oracle Park, with Aaron Nola set to face off with Tyler Mahle at 3:45 ET.
