Missing Somers Point woman has been found

  • Community

A Somers Point woman missing since Friday has been found safe, her mother said Wednesday night.

Melanie Santo, 33, was reported missing after she was released from psychiatric treatment.

"FOUND!!!!" her mother, Renee Santo, wrote in a Facebook update. "We have Melanie and she is now safe!!! Thank you for everyone's help and all those prayers certainly worked."

She did not give details, but said many of the tops that poured in proved accurate.

Santo had been released from One Pines, an AtlantiCare facility in Galloway Township that provides behavioral and mental health services.

A Ring camera showed she arrived home but no one was there.

She later borrowed a phone to call her father, but did not make sense.

At the time, he believed she still was in the hospital, Renee Santo said.

It was not until later that they learned she had been released without notification.

Renee Santo told BreakingAC that the hospital claimed HIPAA rules were why they did not notify the family, telling police the same thing.

It was not clear how Melanie Santo may have gotten from Galloway Township to Somers Point.
