The initial restriction issued by the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management, under the Division of State Police, was to end as of 7 a.m. this morning.
Violators may face penalties under state law.
Atlantic County public work crews were out on the roadways again this morning as of 5 a.m. to continue salt and plowing operations.
Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson asked for the public’s patience and cooperation in advising that it will take some time to make roadways passable as light snow continues to fall.
“The most helpful thing the public can do is to stay off the roadways and let crews do their jobs.”
He noted there are also a number of downed tree branches from the heavy wet snow impeding plowing operations.
“For your own safety, please stay home until restrictions are lifted and it is safe to travel.”
