An Atlantic City family is hoping for some help after a fire ripped through their Venice Park home, taking everything.
The fire began around 4:30 p.m. Friday, in the 1800 block of Mississippi Avenue, and quickly went to two alarms.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Fire Chief Scott Evans said. It is believed to have started on the first floor.
Tiosha Goddard had just finished furnishing the apartment. Her two also lost their Christmas and birthday presents from December.
It's also where Goddard and her boyfriend both had their work.
Goddard, who works two jobs, had hair-braiding equipment. Her boyfriend had machinery for his custom apparel.
Her two sons, Kai'Seir and Taheem Williams, also lost their presents from Christmas and their birthdays, along with their school uniforms and winter clothes.
But things could have been worse.
Goddard was asleep after working a long night shift, when her boyfriend woke her up. She left pick up her sons from school and then head to the market.
That is when the fire struck.
The Red Cross has provided some initial support, said Goddard's aunt, who started the GoFundMe, but they have immediate expenses that are mounting daily.
They can not even cook for themselves, and are paying for every meal.
They are hoping to get new tools to restart their work, along with a security deposit and furniture for a new place.
Anyone who wants to help can reach out beyond the GoFundMe, can also help with things like clothing and gift cards.
Ka'Seir is a size 12/14 in clothes and 5½ shoe. Taheem is an 8/10 and size 2 shoe.
